St John's Church Details
St. John's history goes back 135 years. It began as Grace Church and there is still a cemetery at the original location known as Woods Cemetery (Grace Churchyard). The original church was founded by Irish Orangemen who came to escape the potato famine in Ireland. The hall known as Orangemen's Hall, which stood on what is still called "Orangemen's Grove" by those native to the area, is now located at St. John's two miles west of Preemption on the Preemption-Reynolds Road (2460 170th Avenue).
