"RILEY E. MILLER DIES; FUNERAL TO BE HELD FRIDAY
Riley E. Miller, 70, lifelong resident of Millersburg, died at 12:55 p.m., Wednesday, July 4, 1956, at Mercer County hospital, where he had been a patient since May 30, 1956.
Mr. Miller was born Oct. 1, 1885 in Millersburg, the son of Stephen A. and Mary Etta Miller. He was educated in the schools there and at an early age learned the paperhanging and painting trade, retiring from this work just a few years ago.
He was married to Miss Myrtle Reed who preceded him in death in August of 1947. He was of Protestant faith. He served in the First World war under General Pershing, leaving Mercer county with Battery B, 123rd Field Artillery.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Henrietta Howlett, Davenport; two nieces, Miss Nola Epperly, Davenport; Mrs. Leslie L. Davis, Moline; and a nephew, Vern Epperly of Davenport. A sister and brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6 at 10 a.m. from Reiser's Funeral chapel in Aledo with Elder E.J. Lenox of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints, of Moline, officiating. Graveside services will be conducted by members of the American Legion.
