Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Mertz, 41, wife of Jake Mertz, farmer, living west of Danville, who died Monday, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Morrison Funeral Home, Potomac,  with H.G. Lanham in charge.The Rev. C.I. Roth officiated.

Mrs. Elizabeth Mertz, 41, wife of a farmer living west of Danville, died while giving birth to her 10th child Monday, Nov 22, 1937 at 10 a.m. Mrs. Mertz is the second to die of a family of 13 children, all of whom were born and raised in this vicinity. Her husband is Jake Mertz and for 15 years the family has lived on a farm west of Hillery. Born Feb.29, 1896, near Silverwood, Ind., Mrs. Mertz was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Truman. Her father died several years ago but her mother now lives in Veedersburg. Mrs. Truman formerly lived in Danville.
Surviving Mrs. Mertz, in addition to her husband and mother are the following children; Robert, Ivan, Bill, Thelma, Elmer, Ted, Betty, Melvin, Leonard. Ursala and the baby Martha. Ivan is a stepson.
Surviving brothers are D.H. Trueman, Marion, Ind., and Edward Truman, Mellott. Nine Sisters who survive are Mrs. Sadie Harrington and Mrs Martin Switzer, Veedersburg, Mrs. Ed Lape and Mrs. Grace High of Danville, Mrs. Lawrence Brown, Akron, oh,; Mrs. Lorena Turpin, Cleveland; Mrs. D. V. Mitchell, Farmington, Mich,; Mrs. Fred Wagner, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Ferman Gallaher, Mellott.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at the Lanham Funeral Home in Potomac, with H.G. Lanham in charge. The Rev. Mr. Roth, Henning, will officiate.
